Jerry Bolton

ALBUQUERQUE — Funeral services for Jerry W. Bolton, 73, will be at Green Hills Memorial Chapel, Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Gardena, Calif.
Bolton died June 25, 2011. He was born July 12, 1937, in Albuquerque.

Bolton grew up in Gallup and joined the Navy when he was 17 years old. He had been a long time resident of Harbor City, Calif.

Survivors include his children, Terry Wheelock, Patricia Ferguson; sisters, Patsy Chavez, Judy Caldwell; one granddaughter; one great-grandson.

Bolton was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; parents, Maragaret and George W. Bolton.

Kathleen Gossett

GRANTS — Funeral Services for Kathleen Gossett, 86, will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 6, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Grants. Burial will be at Pioneer Memorial Park, Bluewater.

Gossett died July 1, 2011, in Grants. She was born May 8, 1925, in Morgan, Texas.

Gossett retired from Dr. Gutierrez office after working for many years. She had been a resident of Grants area since the 1930s.

Survivors include her daughters, Josephine Hurtado of Grants, Jeraldine Wardin of Rio Rancho; son, John Henry Gossett, Jr. of Albuquerque; brother, Jim Lee Payne of Deming; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Gossett was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Gossett, Sr.; parents, Edward Griffith Payne, Josephine Agnes Payne; brothers, Cecil Payne, Allen John Payne.

Pallbearers will be John Henry Gossett, Jr., Chad Hurtado, August Frohlich, Patrick Hurtado, Howard Riederman.

Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Marie Lee

RED ROCK — Funeral services for Marie Jim Lee, 76, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 5, at Rollie Mortuary. The Rev. Larry will officiate. Burial will be in Gallup City Cemetery.

Lee died June 29, 2011, in Gallup. She was born Oct. 15, 1934, in Mentmore, into the Towering House People Clan for the Black Streak Wood People Clan.

Lee was a traditional homemaker and rancher. She was a community servant. Her hobbies included weaving rugs, beadwork, cooking, sewing, partaking in traditional ceremonies and being with family.

Survivors include her son, Joe Lee Jr. of Gallup; daughters, Martha Antone of Red Rock, Marlene Lee of Red Rock, Sandra Lee of Vanderwagen, Yvonne Lee of Red Rock; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.

Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Lee Sr.; son, Thomas Lee Sr.

Pallbearers will be Mike James, Justin Antone, Matthew Antone, Malcolm Antone, Eric Lee, Daryl Antone.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

John Schuelke

WATERTOWN, S.D. — Memorial service for John Schuelke, 82, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, at The Sacred Heart Cathedral, Gallup. A rosary will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at The Sacred Heart Cathedral, Gallup.

Schuelke died June 29, 2011. He was born in Watertown, S.D.

Schuelke grew up in Watertown on a farm. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Badoeng Strait during the Korean War. After his service in the Navy, he received his Law Degree from the University of New Mexico and his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of South Dakota. He was a fraternal member of Sigma Delta Chi. He spent the majority of his career as one of the founding partners of Shuelke, Wolfe & Rich law firm in Gallup. He was Council for the Navajo Nation Housing Authority. Schuelke was duly admitted and qualified as an attorney and counselor of the Supreme Court of the United States of America. He was duly admitted and qualified as an attorney and counselor of the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. He was duly admitted and qualified as an attorney and counselor for the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, the Disciplinary Board for the State of New Mexico, and for the Supreme Court of South Dakota. He served as President of McKinley County School Board. Schuelke enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling in his motor home, flying his own plane and snowmobiling. He loved good food and a good cold beer.

Survivors include his wife, Hilda; children, Heather, Michael, Leisa, Kelley, Stacy, Paul; step-children, Frank, Kathy, Heidi, Mike; 16 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren.

Schuelke was preceded in death by his parents, William Schuelke, May Madeline Brusnighan; brother, Gene Schuelke; one step-grandson.

Wilson Smith

GANADO — Funeral services for Wilson Smith, 66, were 10 a.m., today, July 2, at All Saints Catholic Church, Ganado.

Smith died June 28, 2011, in Chandler. He was born Sept. 22, 1944, in Red Rock, into the Towering House People Clan for the Black Streak Wood People Clan.

Survivors include his sisters, Ella Thomas of Fort Defiance, Helena Hubbard of Phoenix.

Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Nez Begoody, Willie Smith Sr.; sister, Eleanor J. Damon; brothers, Wilbur H. Brown, Willie Smith Jr.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Begaye, Aaron Begay, Ryan Grey, Diron Thomas, Eldred Kasus.
